What Do School Counselors Do?
The school counselors helps students achieve their greatest potential by developing a comprehensive school counseling program based on the North Carolina Guidance Essential Standards and ASCA National Model. Interventions such as classroom guidance lessons, individual counseling, small group counseling, and parent consultation are created to focus on three main areas of student development and

Classroom and Large Group LessonsStudents receive classroom and large group lessons throughout the school year on topics such as bullying prevention, child abuse/personal safety awareness, career readiness, and friendship skills. These lessons are designed to be proactive and preventive for ALL students.

Parent ConsultationConferences are available in person or via phone as student concerns arise regarding behavior, friendship skills, or academics. In addition, the counselor has parent materials (books/DVDs) available for checkout on a variety of subjects and can give resource lists for tutoring and other community supports.
